You utter a word of power that potentially kills the target upon hearing it. Once cast, the target is Bolstered against all castings of Power Word Kill. The effect of the spell depends on the target’s Proficiency Score.
- 14 or Lower. The target dies instantly.
- 15 to 18. If the target had 120 hit points or fewer, it dies instantly. Otherwise, it drops to 0 Hit Points and gains Dying 1 or, if it already had the Dying condition, the value increases by 1.
- 19 or Higher. The target takes 120 damage. If this brings the target to 0 Hit Points, the target dies instantly.
Power Word Kill is on the Arcane Spell List.
Heighten (+1): For each Spell Slot of the Heightened Spell Levels (10), increase the thresholds for the Proficiency Scores by 1.
Level 10 Spell Slot. The thresholds change to:
- 15 or Lower.
- 16 to 19.
- 20 or Higher.
