- Casting Time: 10 minutes; Verbal
- Range: 50 feet
- Target: 1 living creature
- Duration: 1 day per Proficiency Score (D); see text
You command the target to carry out a service or cease an activity for the duration of the spell. The command cannot be for the target to kill itself or take a course of action that would result in its death. While casting this spell the target must remain within range otherwise the Geas fails but the Spell Slot is still expended. The target must follow your command to the best of its abilities and must follow until the action is complete or the duration expires. If it completes the action before the duration ends, the spell ends early. Poorly worded Geas spells can allow the target to end the spell early by subverting the instructions.
If the target is unable to obey the command for 24 hours, they take disadvantage to all d20 rolls until they return to following the command. If the target is unable to obey the command for 48 hours, they are inflicted with the Enervated 1 condition. This Enervated condition increases by one for each subsequent day the Geas command is not followed, and it can only be removed when the target begins to follow the command.
A Remove Curse or Remove Enchantment can only break Geas if they are cast with a Level 6 Spell Slot and higher and succeed on the dispel attempt. Dispel Magic cannot dispel Geas and Remove Condition cannot remove the Enervated condition. Geas is on the Arcane and Occult Spell Lists.
