A spellcaster can spend a minute to cast a Level 3 or lower spell into the weapon, storing it for later. The spell must be able to target a creature other than the caster. When you wield a spell storing weapon, you immediately know the name and level of the spell stored in the weapon.
When you activate the rune, you unleash the stored spell and treat either the wielder or the target of the attack as the target of the spell, using a Spell Attack of +15 (DC 25) if necessary. The wielder choses who is the target of the spell. This empties the spell from the weapon and allows a spell to be cast into it again. You can harmlessly expend the stored spell with a single action.
A spell storing weapon found as treasure has a 50% chance of having a spell of the GM’s choice stored in it. A spell storing rune is a rare item.
