Spell: Storm of Vengeance ~ Level 9

A massive storm cloud forms in the air in a 400-foot burst. Beneath it, rain begins to fall and whipping winds impose disadvantage to ranged attacks, not including any siege weapons. When you cast this spell and each round you spend an action to concentrate on the spell, you can choose one of the following storm effects. You cannot choose the same one twice in a row.

  • Acid Rain. Each creature in the storm takes a number of d8s acid damage equal to half your Proficiency Score with no saving throw.
  • Hail. The storm deals a number of d10s bludgeoning damage equal to half your Proficiency Score to creatures beneath it, depending on the creature’s Fortitude save. A successful save reduces this to half damage, on a failure the creature takes full damage, and on a critical failure the creature takes double damage.
  • Lightning. Up to 10 bolts of lightning strike down, targeting creatures of your choice in the storm. No more than one bolt can target any one creature. Each bolt deals a number of d6s electricity damage equal to half your Proficiency Score, depending on the creature’s Reflex save. A successful save reduces this to half damage, on a failure the creature takes full damage, and on a critical failure the creature takes double damage.
  • Rain and Wind. Heavy rain and whipping wind reduce visibility and mobility, making the area under the storm cloud difficult terrain and granting the Concealed condition to all creatures in the area. The effect lasts for 3 rounds.
  • Thunderclap. Each creature in the storm must succeed at a Fortitude save or gain the Deafened condition for 10 minutes. A creature that succeeds is Bolstered against thunderclaps from the same casting of Storm of Vengeance.

Heighten (+1): Using a Level 10 Spell Slot, the following increases are made.

  • The range increase to 2,000 feet.
  • The area increases to 500-foot radius burst.
  • The damage die for Acid Rain increases to d10s.
  • The damage die for Hail increases to d12s.
  • The damage die for Lightning increases to d8s.
  • The duration of the Deafened condition for Thunderclap increases to an hour.
