Translating Creature Abilities

The following is a list of translations from more common tabletop role playing games for creature tags and some abilities.

Construct Traits

These are translated to the abilities of creatures with the Construct Tag. See Creature Tags for more.


Demon Traits (Not Consistent)

Immunities:

  • Effects with the electricity tag
  • Poison

Resistances:

  • [Some] against physical damage except those with the cold iron or [opposing alignment] tags
  • [Some] against effects with the acid, cold, or fire tags

Devil Traits (Not Consistent)

Immunities:

  • Effects with the fire tag
  • Poison

Resistances:

  • [Some] against physical damage except those with the cold iron or [opposing alignment] tags
  • [Some] against effects with the magical tag
  • [Some] against effects with the acid or cold tags

Elemental Traits

Immunities:

  • Poison, and sleep
  • Paralysis, Persistent Damage, and Stunned conditions
  • Critical damage and precision-based damage, such as Sneak Attack

Incorporeal (Not Consistent)

Immunities:

  • All effects that lack the magical or supernatural tags
  • Combat Maneuvers
  • Falling damage

Resistances:

  • [Half Proficiency rounded to the nearest multiple of 5] against effects with the magical or supernatural tags with the exception of those which also have the force tag
  • 50% chance of non-damaging effects with the magical or supernatural tags failing

Passive Ability:

  • Incorporeal. A [creature] ignores environmental penalties that applied to creatures required to breath or creatures with a physical body. It can pass through objects and physical terrain, while objects or terrain with the magical or supernatural tags are treated as difficult terrain. While within an object, a [creature] can see beyond the object normally and gains the Covered condition. The [creature] has a 50% chance of being detected with blindsight, and is undetectable to blindsense, scent, and temorsense.

Swarm Traits (Not Consistent)

Swarms made of Tiny creatures have the Resistance to physical damage while those made of Diminutive or Fine creatures have Immunity to physical damage but Weakness to high winds. Most swarms are Immune to effects with the psychic tag, unless they operate as a hive mind,

Immunities:

  • Effects that target a specific number of creatures, including physical damage
  • Effects with the psychic tag
  • Grabbed, Slowed, and Prone conditions
  • Critical damage and precision-based damage, such as Sneak Attack
  • Combat Maneuvers

Resistances:

  • [some] against physical damage

Weaknesses:

  • Effects that deal damage to an area
  • High winds

To attack, most swarms must enter another creatures’ space, a move action that does not trigger Attacks of Opportunity, but do not need to make an attack roll as their Melee Attacks are Automatic Success.
