illusion, magical, visual
- Casting Time: 2 actions; Somatic and Verbal
- Range: 30 feet
- Target: up to 10 creatures
- Duration: 1 hour per Proficiency Score (D)
You disguise the targets as different creatures of the same body shape and roughly similar height, within 6 inches, and weight, within 50 pounds. The disguise can hide the targets’ identities or let them appear to have a few different Heritage Aspects, but it is not good enough to impersonate specific individuals. The spell does not change voice, scent, or mannerisms. You choose the disguise for each target so you could make one appear to be a dwarf and another an elf. You can also make clothing and items the targets are wearing appear different, such as making armor look like an ordinary dress. Held items are unaffected and any worn item which are removed return to their true appearance until they are donned again.
Casting Veil counts as setting up a disguise for the purpose of Deception checks. It ignores any penalties the targets might take for being disguised as a dissimilar creature and it also gives the targets advantage to Deception checks to prevent others from seeing through their disguises. You can dismiss any or all of these disguises with a Verbal Casting action. Veil is on the Arcane and Occult Spell Lists.
Heighten (+2): You can make the disguise better.
Level 6 Spell Slot and higher. You can disguise the targets’ voices and scents. The spell gains the auditory tag.
Level 8 Spell Slot and higher. You can disguise the targets to be any creature of the same size, even specific individuals. You must have seen the specific individual to successfully reproduce their appearance with Veil.
