- Range: 120 feet
- Area: 10-foot radius burst with 80-foot-height
- Save: Reflex save
The ground opens up, spraying a column of lava high into the air in a vertical cylinder, dealing a number of d6s fire damage equal to your Proficiency Score. Creatures in the area must attempt a Reflex save to avoid the damage and following results. On a successful save the target takes half damage and avoids becoming encased, on a failure the target takes full damage and becomes encased, and on a critical failure the target takes double damage and becomes encased.
The lava rapidly cools and creatures in the area might become encased in rock depending on their Reflex saves. A creature encased in rock is inflicted with the Sluggish 1, Hampered 20, and Immobile conditions, and when flying treats all normal terrain as difficult terrain. A flying creature immediately descends 20 feet the moment it is encased. A creature encased in rock can attempt an Acrobatics or Athletics check against your Spell DC to end the effect. Otherwise, the creature remains encased until it and its encasing rock takes a total of 50 damage, freeing it from the rock.
Additionally, creatures in the area and creatures that are within 20 feet of the lava column automatically take a number of d4s fire damage equal to half your Proficiency Score from the intense heat with no save. Volcanic Eruption is on the Primal Spell List.
