Amherst College Library has access to a college-wide Google Analytics account, which provides information on pageviews, time on page, clickpaths, and devices used, among other metrics. The Web Group reviews this information as needed to inform specific projects and set priorities.
Late May, 2017, brought a number of major changes to the user experience at Smith College Libraries. Staff and collections moved out of the largest location, Neilson Library, to prepare for large-scale building redesign. A new website was launched to coincide with changes in service locations and models, including reducing the number of service desks to one in new the main library location. Mount Holyoke College students and patrons of the library were asked to view a paper mockup of a web interface showing search results. In the sidebar, a “Search within these results” box was available along with additional filters. Students were asked if they would use this feature to add additional criteria to their search.
