Lore about the doppelganger elite follows that of a regular doppelganger. The difference between the two lies in the trait and equipment addition.

Augmented Doppelgangers are a variation of Doppelgangers.

Legendary Actions (1). An Augmented Doppelganger can use one extra action per round. This action can be spent at any point in the round directly after a creature’s turn ends and another begins.

Mimicry. An Augmented Doppelganger is proficient in all weapons, armor, shields, and other items. In addition, an Augmented Doppelganger can use any spell or supernatural ability as if it were on its spell list. No spells can be heightened versions.

Actions

Change Shape. As a Double Action, an Augmented Doppelganger can assume the appearance of a specific individual. An Augmented Doppelganger can only change shape to a form that is medium. It gains all senses and movement types, along with all aspects, traits, and other abilities. This ability does not create equipment. All proficiency-based stats are based off the Augmented Doppelgangers, rather than what was copied, but this does not prevent the Augmented Doppelganger from using abilities that would be otherwise considered too high level. An Augmented Doppelganger can change into another form as a double action or its own appearance as a single action.

Claw. Melee Strike +17/+13/+9 (agile, unarmed) with 8d8+4 slashing damage.

Dagger (Shifting, 1 hand). Melee Strike +17/+13/+9 (agile, finesse, thrown 15 feet, versatile slashing) with 4d4+4 piercing damage. When the Change Shape ability triggers the Shifting Rune on this dagger, which are only special when held by a creature with the Change Shape ability, they take on the form of the specific individual’s weapons and have the following:

  • Attack type mimics the copied weapon +17/+13/+9 (tags mimic the copied weapon) with damage that mimics the copied weapon.

Equipment

† These shifting runes are blessed with power from other planets. While they function as normal Shifting Runes, when used as part of a Change Shape ability, they can take on the form of any weapon that the specific individual wields, including material and runes. While triggered by a Change Shape, the basic Shifting Rune cannot be used to change the weapon unless the Change Shape is dropped completely.

While they function as normal any tools, when used as part of a Change Shape ability, they can take on the form of any equipment that the specific individual wields, including material, runes, or other qualities. These cannot be used to mimic armor or weapons.
