Once per 24 hours, you can call out to the powers of your religion to aid you in your struggle against an opposing side. As a single action, you choose one target within sight to be affected by your Smite Alignment.
The effects of the Smite depend on your and your target’s alignments:
- If this target is a fully opposing alignment to yours (Communal/Community versus Independent/Individual and Honor/Repute versus Integrity/Principle; [neutral counts no one as opposite]), you add 1d8 to your attack rolls and add 1d6 per Proficiency Score to all damage rolls made against the target of your Smite Alignment. The damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.
- If this target is a partially opposing alignment to yours (Communal/Community versus Independent/Individual or Honor/Repute versus Integrity/Principle; [neutral counts no one as opposite]), you add 1d6 to your attack rolls and add 1d4 per Proficiency Score to all damage rolls made against the target of your Smite Alignment. The damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.
- If you target a creature that is not of an opposing alignment (either neutral or the same alignment), the use of Smite Alignment is wasted with no effects.
The Smite has the following additional benefits:
- Attacks against your Smite Alignment target automatically bypass any Resistances.
- While Smite Alignment is in effect, you gain a Deflection bonus equal to one of the following Ability Score Modifiers: Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma, to your AC against attacks made by the target of the Smite Alignment.
- If the target has the outsider tag with a fully opposing alignment or has the Devout Follower with a fully opposing alignment, increase the bonus dice for attack and damage to d10s and d8s, respectively.
Smite Alignment remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time you take a Long Rest and regain your use(s) of this ability. This can be taken multiple times, each time you take Smite Alignment you can use it one additional time per 24 hours. You can take this trait up to seven times.
