Horn of the North

conjuration, magical

  • Price: 4,500 silvers
  • Bulk: L
  • Hands: 1
  • Slot: –

This magic instrument comes in four varieties. Each appears to be normal until someone speaks its command word and blows the horn, each a single action. Then the horn summons a number of warriors to fight for the person who summoned them. Each horn can be blown just once every 7 days. If found, roll 1d100 and refer to the table below to see what type of horn is found. The horn’s type determines what warriors are summoned and what prerequisite is needed to use the horn. Any character who uses a Horn of the North but does not have the prerequisite is attacked by the warriors they summoned.

While the summoned warriors seem to be living creatures, they are not and have the construct tag. The proficiency score of the summoned warriors is treated as half that of the summoner. They arrive with the choice of light or medium armor and two simple or martial weapons. The warriors are considered proficient in the armor and weapons they are summoned with. All their Ability Scores are 14, their Hit Dice is a d10, and their Speed is 30 feet. They are proficient with one save of the summoner’s choice, and up to five skills of the summoner’s choice.

The warriors attack anyone the possessor of the horn commands them to fight until they or their opponents are slain or until an hour has elapsed, whichever comes first. A horn of the north is a rare item.
