You inflict despair on creatures in the area. On a successful Will save, the target cannot take reactions for a round. On the start of their turn for the round, they must attempt another Will save or be Slowed 1 for that turn as it sobs uncontrollably.
On a failure, the target cannot take reactions for a minute. On the start of their turn during the next minute, they must attempt another Will save or be Slowed 1 for that turn as it sobs uncontrollably.
On a critical failure, the target is Slowed 1 and cannot take reactions for a minute. Crushing Despair is on the Occult Spell List.
Heighten (+1): For each Spell Slot of the Heightened Spell Levels (6, 7, 8, 9, 10), increase the area by an additional 10 feet.
Level 6 Spell Slot. Increase the area to a 15-foot cone.
Level 7 Spell Slot. Increase the area to a 20-foot cone.
Level 8 Spell Slot. Increase the area to a 25-foot cone.
