Intimidation

Charisma

Intimidation represents one’s ability to terrify others for the purpose of gaining information or cow an opponent. It is most commonly used in social interactions, particularly if there is a power imbalance or blustering, however it has equal application in combat to weakening opponents using their own fears.

Coerce

  • Triple Action
  • Proficient Only: No

Intimidation can be used to persuade a target to work with you or give up certain information. However, such a tactic is not equal and often involves scaring, threatening, or hurting the target which might cause them to be unwilling to provide aid in the future. Such a check is against the target’s Passive Insight, as it tries to undermine their understanding of the situation. If you are successful, you may or may not change the other creature’s attitude towards you depending on the circumstances. If you fail, the other creature likely shifts one step closer to hostile on the scale below.

Hostile <–> Unfriendly <–> Indifferent <–> Friendly <–> Helpful

Demoralize

  • Double Action
  • Proficient Only: Yes, but can attempt Untrained

During combat, you can use intimidation to attempt to scare an opponent. This is against the target’s Passive Insight. On a successful check, the target is Frightened 1 for 3 rounds.
